About COSU

The Chœur & Orchestre Sorbonne Université (COSU) brings together 120 enthusiastic and passionate young musicians around an ambitious musical project which pursues Sorbonne University’s missions linked to education and knowledge dissemination.

About COSU

Every year, the COSU welcomes students from Sorbonne University, who mostly come from the Music and Musicology department. They receive advanced training provided by top-level professionals from renowned institutions such as the Paris Orchestra.

Developed within the framework of the educational, cultural and scientific policies of Sorbonne University, and in keeping with musicological research, the COSU's programming draws from not only mainstays of the repertoire but also never or rarely played works, as well as premieres of commissioned pieces.

Led by orchestral and choral conductors Nicolas Agullo and Frédéric Pineau, both ensembles often perform in outstanding venues, in France (Philharmonie de Paris, Salle Gaveau, Chorégies d’Orange…) and internationally. By doing so, they act as representatives of Sorbonne University and promotes its futures activities. This attachment to the French University results in COSU’s eminent singularity: it is at the same time a place of training, excellence and transmission, and an actor of the diffusion of music.
